More than 40 international students are ready to launch their educational journeys in the Illawarra having received a special ‘Welcome to Wollongong’ at TAFE Illawarra’s Wollongong Campus.

The excited group, who come from all corners of the world, including China, Japan, Philippines, Brazil, USA, Vietnam, India, Poland, Turkey, Malaysia, Zimbabwe and Guatemala, were greeted by TAFE Illawarra’s International Business team before starting their studies on 14 July.

TAFE Illawarra’s Manager, International Business, Catherine Miller, said: “We always ensure our new international students feel comfortable and settled before commencing their courses.

“The orientation day is a fun and social way to check out the campus facilities, meet fellow students and learn about the various support services we provide, including counselling, tutorial support and the resources on offer at our libraries.

“We also invite local representatives from the NSW Police Force, Wollongong City Council lifeguards, Destination Wollongong, Medibank Private, the Department of Fair Trading and the Illawarra TAFE Student Association, who offer helpful tips and information about the area.”

The students will study a broad range of courses including English Language, Information Technology, Fitness and Conservation and Land Management, all of which will enhance their career opportunities nationally and internationally.
