Providing a new space for headspace Wollongong

Sense-Sation Events students present headspace Wollongong with over $10,000 from the proceeds of their successful 9th Annual Corporate Golf Day in Wollongong.

The sun shone for the TAFE NSW Wollongong student group ‘Sense-Sation Events’ at their recent Golf Day for golfing, networking and digging deep.

An official upcoming ‘handover of funds’ event took place at Pepe’s on the Beach where the total revenue raised on the day and the proceeds were handed over to Clementina Velasco of headspace Wollongong. These funds will help to provide a bigger space for the headspace office and their community outreach program.

TAFE NSW student, Tamara Winstanley, is currently studying a joint degree of Event Management at TAFE NSW Wollongong, in conjunction with a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Wollongong.

‘This event gave us the opportunity to gain real experience in the events and business industry while also supporting a cause that we’re passionate about,’ says Tamara.

‘We chose to support a charity that is close to our hearts in an effort to raise awareness about mental health in the community,’ she said.

Headspace supports individuals aged 12 to 25 who suffer from mental health issues, which is why the students feel so passionate about giving back to them.

Headspace Wollongong supplies a variety of free, well needed services to support the youth of Wollongong.

The event is possible through the generous and valued support of the Platinum Sponsors, the University of Wollongong, Faculty of Business, IMB Bank, and TAFE NSW, with particular mention to Justin Norris (UOW) and Terry Widdicombe (IMB), along with a panel of amazing industry professionals.

These supporters support the event and also give their time to help the students grow and develop the skills they will need when they enter the business and events industry.
