3 tips for sticking to your New Year's resolutions

As the year winds down and we get set to bring in the coming year, it’s often a time of reflection on what has transpired and our achievements.

Enter the New Year's resolution as we feel inspired to think big, grasp opportunities and write on the 365-day blank slate.

Our Careers Counsellors at TAFE NSW Wollongong have come up with some great tips to maximise your aspirations and chances to attain your goals, both personally and professionally:

1)    Make sure your goals are achievable and realistic

2)    Be accountable and share your goals with someone

3)    Break your goals down into small steps.

Glen Barwick, Senior Counsellor encouraged sharing your goals with a friend so you can help motivate each other.

“Remember your goal needs to be something very simple to start off. This increases your chances of achieving and then you can build upon your success,” says Glen.

“If you slip up, just re-affirm your goals and keeping trying. It’s important to be kind to yourself.”
